The Mountain Chickadee can be found from North British Columbia Canada to as far south as South California, South Arizona, Southwest Texas, and Colorado. The Black-capped Chickadee is a small and active bird that is frequently seen at bird feeders. It is slightly smaller than the mountain chickadee and can be found from Alaska east to Newfoundland and as far south as Northern California, North Oklahoma, and North New Jersey.

Black-capped Chickadees can be found in forests or parks and residential areas. They are quite tame and inquisitive, and more readily seen than the Mountain Chickadee. The Black-capped Chickadee has a black paper and And large white cheeks and gray under parts. Its song-call is chick-a-dee-dee-dee

and Southwest New Mexico. The Mexican Chickadee has gray flanks and a black throat patch extending onto the breast.
